Pierre Antoine: Ye Man Noun

from by Various Artists

(Papa disco) (Ahui N' Goran Marcel, died Aug. 29th 1993):

He started his career around 1968 as the leader of the Pop-Soul band "Les Super Fétiches". He also worked with the Sanwi Star band. He became famous in the Abidjaneese scene and especially a famous figure of the "Adjame" area, with his amazing Holy Grail’s 7inch ‘Say Minh Sy Soh’, released on Ahui Music in 1977. Mostly singing in Agni, he also played with "Vis à Vis", the famous Ghanean band.

Certainly one of the hardest original Afrobeat record to find, this killer track is a pure Afrobeat style with an hypnotic groove. Sammy Cropper from Vis à Vis band was on guitar, and Lola Everett, who used to sing together with Ghanaian Pat Thomas, appeared as backing vocal.

On this track, Pierre Antoine found the quintessence of Afro and Soul fusion, both as singer and arranger.
